TATE BRITAIN. THE SQUASH.
We carried out tiling at the Tate Britain museum. This was in relation to the development of The Squash exhibition created by famous artist Anthea Hamilton.
WHAT TATE BRITAIN REQUIRED
Required South London tilers to complete over 1500sqm of floor tiling & grouting.
This tiling exhibition was for Anthea Hamilton’s firm exhibition at the Tate Gallery.
All tiling work needed to be completed in a total of 10 days.
Construction of tile boxes designed by carpenters to reflect the artists vision.
As leading South London tilers, we approached this with extensive & speedy preparation and planning in order to complete this project within the specified time period whilst maintaining a quality tiling service. We began by measuring the areas which required the tiling. We then applied latex to the tiling area in order to ensure that we achieved a flawless finish. Our South London tilers worked through the days and nights in order to complete this tiling project. This tiling project used over 7000 tiles. The tiles our team used were donated to the Tate Britain for Anthea’s exhibition. We assigned over 12 tilers working simultaneously in order to make this possible within the designated time frame. Finally our South London tilers carried out precise grouting and applied sealant to the tiles to complete this extraordinary project.
WHAT WAS THE TATE'S RESPONSE
The artist Anthea Hamilton and the Tate Gallery was so pleased with the work that they invited us to the opening private commission which was reviewed by Vogue, Euro News, The Guardian as well as many other public critics.
” The best tilers in the South of London, a great team who truly have a passion for what they do”.
